Our Space is a cutting edge interactive visitor experience. Toulouse Ltd was the Technical Consultant for the exhibition, and an integral part of the technical design team. Key areas worked on were the 18 metre long interactive video wall and an i-Pod style media database browsing application. Our Space is both virtual space and exhibition space, where user-generated content floats alongside treasures from the national museum. Visitors are guided through unique physical spaces where they view images submitted by the public and can also manipulate this media to create individual representations of national identity.

Whales Tohora is currently touring internationally to great acclaim.
A theatrical approach to the lighting design ensures dramatic shadow effects and enhances the scale of the mighty whale skeletons.
Large glass display cases appear to float within the architecturally designed exhibition space and blue projection lamps create an “other worldly” experience for the visitor.
Blood Earth Fire, Whangai Whenua Ahi Ka explores the conversion of the once untouched land into a cultivated and peopled environment. Toulouse Ltd was commissioned to design the lighting for this exhibition. In doing so, the company designed a new LED light fitting for this exhibition to allow for discreet and cool lighting of precious taonga, or treasure.
Following the critical and public success of the Lord of the Rings films, Te Papa undertook a touring exhibition The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy: The Exhibition, which opened in Wellington in 2005 and has been touring internationally since.
The Rotorua Bathhouse Museum refurbished the animated seats in its cinema experience - Rotorua Stories - in late 2008. Toulouse Ltd was commissioned to provide the control system to operate the hydraulic seats in synch with the screen action. Toulouse Ltd was also contracted for the first commission of the Rotorua Stories to design the theatrical room lighting.
The Puke Ariki project was a large-scale refurbishment of an existing library and a new museum that was designed to reflect the local culture and history. Puke Ariki tells the stories of Taranaki - a region of legendary struggles and challenges - through exhibitions, displays, collections and technology. The museum design included three unique permanent galleries, and a temporary exhibition floor. The museum also included a 'theatre experience' - an immersive film about the region. Toulouse Ltd was contracted to consult on and design exhibition lighting, complete track systems and the electrical infrastructure for all of the museums' gallery and library spaces.
The World of Wearable Arts Museum in Nelson was designed to give the visitor a 'mini-show' version of the highly successful annual show, which has played in Nelson and more recently, Wellington. 27 garments are displayed on static mannequins, whilst a selection of garments are hung on a suspended conveyor track that displays each garment every three minutes. The gallery also includes a UV section and has a twice-yearly changeover of garments. Toulouse Ltd designed the lighting for the gallery and worked to retain the theatrical 'feel' of the live annual show. A control system was employed to give 'cues' for moving lights for each garment on the conveyor track, and programming continues on a bi-annual basis to refresh and update the lighting with the garment changes.
Toulouse Ltd also consulted on the lighting for the themed dioramas in the adjoining Talley's Car Museum.
The Otago Settlers Museum is one of New Zealand's finest social history museums, dedicated to telling the stories of Dunedin and Otago's people. Toulouse Ltd was contracted as the technical designer/supplier and lighting designer for this new permanent exhibition. The project involved exhibition illumination, ship interiors, video, audio, and interactive components.

The Waiouru Army Museum undertook a three-phase refurbishment scheme, commencing in 2000. Consisting primarily of large-scale dioramas and set-like reconstructions of typical war-zones, the museum is also a memorial. Toulouse Ltd designed the display lighting and track systems for the public galleries and undertook the theatrical installation of light fittings and prop lighting for all phases of the refurbishment.
